The loss of five barrels of goods must have been devastating for the owners, in addition to the loss of their residence. The hardships these people went through are incomprehensible. It kind of feels ike they were pointless victims of capitalism. It's interesting that we can extrapolate so much sociologically and anthropologically from archeology.

what is the Netherlands now? it was already the Netherlands then. and what you have there is a so-called bridal box. These boxes were filled with money and given to the bridal couple. This was primarily a Frisian tradition. When I look at the shape, I think it was made in Sneek or the surrounding area. In good condition, this box is now worth about thirty thousand euros. The Frisian Museum has several copies in its collection, I would contact them

I cannot believe the expense that must’ve been spent to conduct this study. Not only that, it is totally invasive to the person that was buried. We know what people wore back then. It is not essential to study this.

I love this channel and their videos but the Towel scraping intro is possibly the most annoying intro I’ve ever heard of it was about 1/4 as long it would be fine but it literally makes my skin crawl kinda like nails on a chalkboard and for some reason it’s just he intro when they scrap with towels in the actual footage it doesn’t bother me.

It would be interesting to explore how these individuals died, of natural causes or not for each and whether there's enough remains to make these determinations.

I love these videos I’m so happy I stumbled onto this channel 2 days ago but I’m also mad that I search and watch History/archaeology and related videos all the time and Time Team is probably my most watched channel and videos in general so I’m mad that this channel never showed in recommend for you videos. The one thing I’m interesting in at roughly 1:58 she says during the Civil War it was occupied by Union Troops then Confederate occupation and then so called “other occupations” I’m pretty sure this is a mistake but if not I’d be super interested in who else other than the Union and Confederate Army’s durning the civil war like did some French troops or maybe some Native Warriors manage to take it over and occupy for a while or hell maybe the Brit’s or maybe the Mexicans or Canadas slipped in some how lol.

The dedication of the archeologists throughout this series of Dig Deeper Is very gratifying. I was part of a amateur team who worked the coffeehouse midden some years ago and enjoyed being a small part of the archeology team. I'm still fascinated by the work done by your team of professionals in this artifact rich environment. The story of Jamestown Settlement is very rich historically and I'm happy to see the use of GPR to save time and tell the story more completely. Excellent work!!

When I see artifacts from the early period, I cannot help but wonder if my ancestor John Chandler , who as a ten year old indentured servant who was brought to Jamestown around 1609, may have seen or touched the Item. At 71 years of age my last remaining bucket list is a trip to Jamestown .My other direct ancestor was Captain Thomas Warren who bought the land where Smiths old fort stood from Thomas Routh and built the fifty foot brick house in 1652 which is still standing today .

This is awesome! I’m studying to be an archaeologist currently in college. I have a question why do you not or how do you not keep from digging into those places. Like “the cellar” you found. It’s gotta be so enticing to just want to dig up those artifacts. But I do understand the less soil that is disturbed the better.
